Upcoming Events

To honor our brother Dan and his dedication to faith and education, we have established the Lt. Daniel P. Riordan Scholarship Fund at Vianney High School. The scholarship will be given to a student with financial need and who represents the qualities of faith, honor, and service. "Lt. Dan" was a man who loved his family, his God, and his country. His faith gave him the strength necessary for battle; this faith was cultivated and strengthened by the faculty and staff of Vianney High School. The following four annual events have been established to raise money for the scholarship fund and to remember our fallen hero.

Last year, the golf tournament was an incredibly successful event. With 144 golfers, we raised over $12,800 for the scholarship fund while enjoying perfect weather, a barbecue dinner and an awards ceremony. Without the help of supporters like you, this event would not have been possible. On behalf our family, we would like to thank you for your generosity. Your kindness will help us provide tuition assistance to young Vianney men that display the same qualities that Dan exhibited: Faith, Honor, and Service. We hope you can be a part of this event in 2009.

Because of your participation and generosity, we were able to award the first Lt. Daniel P. Riordan Memorial Scholarship at this year's tournament. Vinnie Piantanida, St. John Vianney High School Class of 2013, was awarded a four-year partial tuition scholarship to attend Vianney.

Lt. Daniel P. Riordan Memorial Trivia Night

The third annual Lt. Daniel P. Riordan Memorial Trivia Night was a true success. More than 700 supporters attended, making this our largest event to date. The event raised an amazing $28,500 for the scholarship fund. Our deepest appreciation goes to our donors, sponsors, participants and volunteers who enabled us to once again exceed our fundraising goals.

We would like to extend a special thank you to our Gold Sponsors, BKD CPAs & Advisors, First Command Financial Planning, John and Pam Flatley, Dr. Mary Klix, Bob and Jeanine Rainey, Rick and Michelle Riordan and J.W. Terrill.

This patriotic evening was a true testament to Dan's life. We hope you can continue to be a part of this annual event and we truly appreciate your help in making this scholarship a success. Check back soon for the event date in 2010!

Release:2009 Trout Bust

In an effort to raise money to benefit the Lt. Daniel Riordan Scholarship Fund at Vianney High School, the Old Hippies Association (OHA) is donating the proceeds from their annual "Trout Bust" at Montauk State Park.

Army 1st Lt. Dan Riordan, an avid outdoorsman, was killed in June 2007 while serving in Iraq. As a boy scout Riordan enjoyed fishing, hiking, campfires and sleeping under the stars.

"While he (Dan) can't be here for this time honored tradition, we know he will be with us in spirit," said Jim Wallace, OHA president.
